This trick works well with LSD and research chemicals such as 4-ACO-DMT, but it isn’t fantastic for shrooms. Holding most psychedelics under your tongue (sublingually) reduces the length of the come-up, which therefore makes the peak slightly more intense. Wait until you start noticing the first signs of the come-up (e.g. light tracers, slight confusion, the beginnings of a fresh new headspace). For LSD this would probably take 20–40 minutes. At which point begin to meditate with eyes closed and preferably no music. Do this for 30–60 minutes; the aim is to be finished meditating when the peak arrives. Depriving your senses during the transition period from sober to tripping causes your mind to get even more confused when the peak hits. Meditating at this point means that you no longer have your surroundings to anchor you on the come-up, making the trip even more unpredictable. When I did this, I noticed my 150ug tab feel more like 300ug. Opening my eyes again felt like returning from the dead. The open-eye visuals were richer than any of my other trips, and it took me a lot longer than usual to get a grasp of things. Additionally, the actual meditation itself was thought-provoking. The mind produces some downright crazy stuff when you meditate on a psychedelic. Bear in mind that meditating for 30–60 minutes on any psychedelic is a mammoth task, even if only on the come-up; you’ll feel greatly stimulated throughout the experience. It takes tremendous dedication, especially if you’re not used to meditating already.

If you’re not a daily smoker with a huge tolerance, then weed will act as an insanely powerful amplifier to your trip, especially if smoked at the peak. Doing this at the middle of the peak (the highest point) will have the most effect, but be wary because weed brings its own psychedelic properties to the party and sometimes they don’t always agree with your current mindset. While this does work, it sometimes works a little too well, and to be honest most of my more negative psychedelic experiences have involved weed. At least for me, I think of adding weed to a trip as a trade-off: it makes my thinking less sharp and increases my anxiety, but in return I get some of the most profound visuals I’ve ever seen. Remember when smoking to take consistent breaks as weed doesn’t always hit instantly on psychedelics. I advise taking a couple puffs and waiting ten minutes before going again. Additionally, I have found that smoking on the peak seems to increase the length of a trip, sometimes by a wild margin. When I last smoked on the peak it made the trip last 14 hours.
Alternatively, you could take an edible to get the same (or possibly stronger) effect. I advise taking an edible 30–60 minutes after taking your psychedelic as they usually take 1+ hours to hit, but if you’re one of the lucky ones who metabolizes weed faster, then maybe take it later. Go for a run, or maybe play a sport. The more external stimulation you can get, the better. I have found that pushing your body (but not pushing it too hard) can change the nature of a trip. Have you ever left the gym or finished a run with a totally different headspace than when you started? Imagine that on a psychedelic. When under the influence, you’ll notice subtle changes to your headspace even more, and these subtle changes can influence the rest of the trip. If you’re running, then you might get the which could really amplify your trip. I’d advise exercise for near the end of the peak/start of the come-down.
